It’s the first full day of Libra season, and the first day of Venus’s journey through intense and perceptive Scorpio. If your life has felt stale lately, today could offer you the fresh energy you needed. The astrological landscape is markedly different this morning than it was when you woke up yesterday; maybe your life will be, too.

You make countless little choices every day, and most of them aren’t make-or-break. If you wish you’d acted differently, you can backtrack and start again or resolve to do better tomorrow. Don’t take this to mean that your choices are inconsequential. Each time you choose the right option over the easy one, you get a tiny bit stronger. Each time you treat someone with kindness, you make the world a slightly less dismal place. All of the small things add up, so acknowledge they matter.

Your iron will is one of your best qualities: You’re a fighter to the core. But while this serves you well in life’s big battles, it can cause problems in your relationships with the people you love; you might be unwilling to back down or apologize, even when you were in the wrong. But today offers an ideal opportunity for a reset. Don’t let your stubbornness ruin a good thing.

If nobody brings up a problem to you, you tend to assume that there isn’t a problem. It’s completely reasonable — after all, if there’s something wrong in your life, you’re not going to keep quiet about it. But everyone communicates differently. Some people prefer to process their emotions privately. Try not to make any assumptions today. If you want to know how someone you care about is feeling, ask them, and leave space for them to answer in their own way.

You can be hesitant to let others see your fully authentic self. When acquaintances expect you to act a certain way, it often seems simplest to give them what they want. When your workplace rewards some personality types, it can be difficult to go against the grain. But there’s a cost to hiding all the other parts of who you are. Today, stop trying to please everyone else. Be who you really are, and good things will follow.

You’ve been feeling, lately, like you have a lot to prove. Maybe you want to show all the people who have believed in and supported you that they weren’t mistaken to do so; maybe you’re motivated to show everyone who doubted you just how wrong they were. But that’s a lot of pressure to put on yourself, and eventually you might start to buckle under the weight of it. So today, take it easy. The people who love you don’t do it because they need proof that you’re somehow “worthy” — they just do.

Sometimes you feel anonymous and unnoticed as you move through the world. Today, though, don’t be surprised if you seem to have interesting encounters wherever you go. Strangers want to share their life story with you, casual acquaintances might spill their secrets, and even you might open up to somebody unexpected. It could be overwhelming — you didn’t ask for all this when you left the house this morning! — but it could also be wonderful to be reminded of all the potential this world holds for human connection. You don’t need to search far afield for kindness and community. It’s all around you.

No matter how much you want something, you’re not one to play hardball. You’d prefer to be tactful than blunt; better to get less than you really want if that means preserving a positive relationship. Today, though, try not to worry quite so much about keeping the peace. Be clear about what you really want, and don’t rush to accept “compromises” that aren’t fair to you. Sometimes, refusing to settle for less than you need will lead to the sorts of positive, mutually supportive relationships you want.

You’re not typically the loudest voice in the room, but that hardly matters: People are drawn to you whether or not you ask for their attention. Today, you may notice that, more than usual, everyone seems to want your approval, your advice, your friendship. This makes it a great day for reconnecting with friends who have grown distant, smoothing out tension, or getting others to come around to your point of view. Strong social bonds can make everything in life easier, so make the most of yours.

You’re generally pretty open about your emotions, even when your honesty could lead to awkwardness or conflict — you don’t see the point in tiptoeing around the truth. But today, you may be better served by holding back a bit. Being a good communicator doesn’t mean you need to share everything immediately: If you give yourself a bit of time now to process how you’re feeling, you’ll be clearer and more effective once you do decide to open up.

Although you have a healthy confidence in yourself, you sometimes doubt that others value you. It’s easy for you to imagine that you’re unimportant to the people in your life. You recognize that your friends are busy with their own problems, but you still wish that they had more time for you. But today, try to spend time with the people you care about: You may be reminded that they genuinely do care.

Your independent spirit means you tend to chafe under anyone else’s guidance. Others’ advice— no matter how wise or well intended — often strikes you as bossy and overbearing. But while some things are best learned through personal experience, there are times when you only make life harder for yourself by shrugging off any offers of help. If you can put your ego aside and make the effort to learn from people older or more experienced than you today, you’ll be glad you did.

Personal growth can be painful and difficult; while that obviously doesn’t feel good, there’s a satisfaction to it. But sometimes you find yourself drawn to the experiences or relationships that promise suffering, as though this is the only way to expand your horizons or learn anything. Today, remember that growth doesn’t have to hurt: It can also be exhilarating and wonderful, even in the moment.
