You can now install or update up to four apps concurrently from the Google Play Store

Must read

This past weekend, we reported that Google Play Store now lets Android users install or update up to three apps and games on their devices at the same time. However, we’ve discovered that you can actually install/update up to four apps/games concurrently from the Play Store on your Android device.

We discovered this while installing apps and games on our iQOO Z9s Pro in India from the Google Play Store, having version 42.4.22-31[0][PR]663941805.

We had over a dozen apps/games queued for installation, and the Play Store downloaded up to four apps concurrently while the status for the rest was displayed as “Pending.”

This not only worked for fresh installs but also when updating apps and games already installed on the device.

However, Google seems to have flipped the switch on its servers for a small percentage of users since we could only manage to install/update up to three apps/games on most of our Android devices in India. Hence, it remains to be seen if Google will actually allow four concurrent app downloads or settle with three, which is the same as App Store downloads for iOS users.

This development might not make much of a difference for Android users who haven’t disabled automatic app updates in the Play Store – which are turned on by default – or for those on slow networks or using devices with slow storage.

However, those who manually update apps or set up new devices often (like us reviewers do) would find this useful since it helps save time by reducing the waiting period. Regardless, we appreciate this move by Google.

If you are also able to download up to four apps concurrently, drop us a comment below with your device and country names.
