The Google Play Store has been offering all the essential payment options for many years now, including credit and debit cards, net banking, redeeming Google Play codes or gift cards, and in some regions, including India, UPI.
Well, Google has now updated the Play Store with a new payment option called ‘Ask someone else to pay’ (via Android Authority). As the name suggests, the new option allows you to ask someone else to make the payment for an item or a service that you are purchasing from the app distribution platform.
How to use ‘Ask someone else to pay’ in the Play Store?
‘Ask someone else to pay’ will appear as the last payment option on the payments page. Once you select it, the Play Store will show the ‘Share payment link’ button. After you click on it, the platform will generate a link that you can copy and send to anyone. They can then click on the link and make the payment for you.
If you are purchasing an item or a service from an app that uses Google Play Billing, you will see the ‘Ask someone else to pay’ option if the developer of that app has integrated it with version six or newer version of Play Billing Library.
The story continues after the video…
Currently, the ‘Ask someone else to pay’ option in the Play Store is live in India. Google hasn’t said if it will extend this feature to regions. The new feature is very helpful for people who depend on others, such as their parents, for payment of app purchases. The new feature should boost purchases on the Play Store.
