The Battle of the Apps is returning to the World Aviation Festival this year, and the finalists have been announced.
Each year, airlines submit their app for consideration at the annual event which this year will take place in Amsterdam on October 8-10.
Customers choose the finalists, but four expert judges will judge the final round. The finalists include Lufthansa, Emirates, and Air India.
Apps will be judged on their customer experience, innovation, and the ability of airlines to predict and act on customer demands. Last year’s winner was United Airlines.
This year’s judging panel consists of: Glenn Morgan, partner of ClearSky; Anna De Hauw, founder of IN Air Travel Experience; Jerry Angrave, customer experience consultant of Empathyce, and Suzanna Chiu, head of Amadeus Ventures.
This year, event organisers have included extra prizes for the winner, including the privilege of returning to the stage in 2025 to present the award to their successor.
Other prizes available include a post-event interview with the WAF senior editor to be shared via email and published on the WAF blog;Â An interview 6 months post-event to heck in with the app developers for new features, developments, or updates; and an opportunity to present at WAF 2025.
The World Aviation Festival will take place October 8-10 at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam.
