Maritime AI company Windward has introduced Critical Maritime Infrastructure Protection, an AI-driven solution to safeguard vital maritime assets such as cables, pipelines, and rigs.
The solution integrates Windward’s ‘proprietary’ cable layer and user data with AI-based behavioural pattern detection to help organisations identify and mitigate potential threats.
Suspected attacks on undersea cables worldwide, along with the sabotage of oil pipelines in recent years, have highlighted the vulnerability of global energy and data networks, underscoring the need to secure the assets, the company stated.
The Critical Maritime Infrastructure Protection solution targets three main threats, namely deep-sea research operations, shallow-water sabotage, and offshore oil rig attacks.
The AI platform leverages historical data, behavioural patterns, and predictive analytics, along with real-time monitoring alerts, powered by the integrated Dataminr feed, to help users assess and mitigate threats.
Furthermore, Windward’s virtual subject matter expert, MAI Expert, offers risk analysis and contextual insights.

Windward co-founder and CEO Ami Daniel said: “Beyond the immediate disruptions, national stability and financial implications for businesses relying on cables for connectivity and operational continuity are immense.
“While recent incidents remain under investigation, the growing risks – whether accidental or intentional – underscore the urgent need for advanced monitoring. With our Critical Maritime Infrastructure Protection solution, we aim to defend all stakeholders from this new kind of warfare.”
Windward’s Critical Maritime Infrastructure Protection solution caters to enforcement agencies, including defence and intelligence organisations, coast guards, navies, and private sector entities, including telecom, energy, and tech companies.
Besides real-time tracking and threat intelligence, the platform aids in post-incident probes with its advanced data layers and analytics.
Organisations also can incorporate their proprietary data, establish customised risk parameters, and define alerts tailored to their specific infrastructure needs, both above and below the water.
In December 2024, Windward joined forces with US-based AI company Dataminr to integrate real-time alerts into its maritime platform, enabling proactive responses to maritime and global events.
