Will Amazon Prime Day 2024 return this summer?

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — It’s almost time to shop one of the biggest shopping events of the year — Amazon Prime Day.

The day is Amazon’s deal event exclusively for Prime members, featuring discounts on top brands and goods from small businesses. It first began in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th birthday. Prime members have access to amazing deals on products across categories — from fashion, to electronics, to toys, and home goods.

Last year, Prime members purchased more than 375 million items worldwide and saved more than $2.5 billion on millions of deals across Amazon stores, according to the online retailer. It marked the biggest Prime Day event in Amazon’s history.

This year, Prime Day 2024 will take place in July.

Exact dates for this year’s event haven’t been revealed yet, though we can assume the event will last for at least 48 hours like in year’s past.

Amazon will start to share sneak peeks and previews of deals to expect in the coming weeks. Once it begins, Amazon will live-blog the best deals of the event, along with shopping tips and key reminders.

But members can expect deep discounts and can get shopping done early for back to school supplies.

Consumers need to be a Prime member to cash in on the savings. If you’re not a Prime member yet, anyone can join and start a 30-day free trial at amazon.com/primeday to participate in Prime Day, get access to fast and free shipping, and enjoy entertainment benefits, like Prime Video, Prime Music and more.

Prime members pay an annual membership rate of $139 per year, or $14.99 per month. Prime student members pay $69 per year, or $7.49 per month. EBT and Medicaid recipients can snag a monthly rate of $6.99.

Some additional ways to prepare include:

  • Get the newsletter: If you’re already a Prime member and have chosen to opt-in to receiving emails, look out for the Prime Insider newsletter in your inbox to keep up with the growing list of member benefits and find updates on deals and events.
  • Create deal alerts for personalized recommendations: Prime members can subscribe to receive deal alert notifications related to their recent Amazon searches and recently viewed items. All they have to do is visit the Prime Day event page on the Amazon app between now and Prime Day to create deal alerts. Once Prime Day arrives, members will receive push notifications on any available deals.
  • Get deal notifications from Alexa: Prime members never have to worry about missing a deal thanks to Alexa. Prime members can ask Alexa for deal notifications on products added to their Wish List, Cart, or Save for Later. To get started, just ask, “Alexa, add [product name] to my cart,” and then ask Alexa to notify you about the deal when it’s live.
  • Set a reminder: Prime members can tell their Alexa devices, “Remind me when Prime Day starts,” to be alerted when the two-day deals event begins.
