WhatsApp Rolls Out Events Feature in its newest update
The Llama-3-powered WhatsApp update has rolled out a new ‘Events’ feature for group chats which will allow WhatsApp users to create and plan events. Users will now be able to organise meetings and gatherings within the group chat with the help of the Events feature. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Events feature became available for users with WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.9.20 update. The Events feature was limited to the Community group chats but the update brings the feature to regular WhatsApp group chats as well.
How Does The WhatsApp Events Feature Work?
The new WhatsApp feature will allow users to create, organise, and plan events in group chats. The feature is added to simply gatherings and other events within WhatsApp groups. Users will able to enter event details like name, description, location, date, video calls and voice calls. Group members will be allowed to accept or reject event invitations. Event creators will able to able to update the event details as needed.
The WABetaInfo reports add that the events in the WhatsApp group chats will private and only the group members will be able to access the event details. Reportedly, WhatsApp will also be looking to add more functions like setting cover photos and adding event reminders in future updates.
