UConn dropped five spots in the latest AP men’s basketball poll, falling out of the top 10.
Now the No. 14 team in the country, UConn looks to regain momentum in the Big East after suffering a loss to Villanova last week. The team is now 13-4, already surpassing its loss total from last year.
The Huskies begin a two-game homestand with a matchup against Creighton. The Blue Jays are on a two-game win streak and are 11-6 on the season. They’re also one game behind the Huskies in the Big East standings.
Ryan Kalkbrenner headlines the Creighton lineup. The 7-1 center is in his fifth collegiate season, all of which played with the Blue Jays. He’s averaging 17.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. He kicked off the year with a 49-point explosion on Nov. 6.
UConn no longer has Donovan Clingan to match up with Kalkbrenner, so the team is at a size disadvantage now. Tarris Reed Jr. will likely take on the defensive assignment. The junior is 6-10, so he’s slightly undersized.
