The Mauldin Police Department hosts a Polar Plunge “Freezin’ for a Reason” event from 2 – 3:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Discovery Island Waterpark. Participants will brave the cold weather and jump into icy waters to raise money for Special Olympics South Carolina. There will also be a DJ, costume contest and awards given to the highest fundraisers, and water slides will be open. All proceeds raised will benefit Special Olympics South Carolina to help provide year-round sports training and competition for athletes.
