Lake County Engineer James Gills recently announced details on two road closures.
CSX Railroad will be closing the Townline Road railroad crossing between state Route 84 and Middle Ridge Road in Madison and Perry townships for five days beginning May 20.
The crossing will be closed to all traffic. Detour signs will be posted by the CSX contractor. The Engineer’s Office is suggesting Middle Ridge Road to Ridge Road to Route 84 as an alternate route.
Drivers are reminded to be respectful of the closure and not move or drive around barricades while the road is closed.
Gills also issued an update May 17 for the road closure of a section of Ford Road over Talcott Creek approximately 4.2 miles east of Blair Road and approximately 1.8 miles west of state Route 528 in Madison Township.
With financial assistance from the Lake County commissioners, the Gills noted his office has entered into an agreement with Painesville-based Hallmark Excavating, Inc. to construct the bridge and drainage infrastructure, install a guardrail, and pave between the top of the hill just to the west of the bridge and Fisher Road.
Weather permitting, the contractor will begin mobilizing “around May 22,” the office confirmed, adding the substantial completion date for the road to be reopened to through traffic is late December.
The existing, posted detour — Blair Road to River Road to Route 528 — will remain in place. Drivers and pedestrians should not enter the work zone or drive around and/or move the barricades to gain access.
