Walmart boosts sales outlook as shares surge to record high
Americans are shopping more at Walmart. The world’s largest retailer by sales raised its annual sales and profit forecasts for a second time this year.
Amazon isn’t the only online retailer cashing in on pre-holiday shopping. Walmart has also launched its own fleet of deals to compete directly with the popular October Prime Day sale, with both events happening now.
Walmart’s October Deals event started on Oct. 8 and runs through Oct. 13, offering deals of up to 50% off on electronics, appliances, and other household essentials. Unlike Amazon Prime’s two-day event, Walmart’s deals last five days, giving customers more time to do their early holiday shopping.
In-store discounts will be available at your local Walmart store starting Oct. 9, USA TODAY reports. You don’t need a membership to shop Walmart’s deals, though Walmart+ members often get early access to the company’s major online sales.
Target, Wayfair join Walmart in offering October deals alongside Amazon’s October Prime Day
Other October shopping events include Target’s Circle Week, where members can get exclusive offers on household items, which is running Sunday, Oct. 6, through Saturday, Oct. 12.
Wayfair’s October Way Day 2024 is also live for discounts of up to 80% off sitewide, with the sale ending Wednesday, Oct. 9.
