FAIRFIELD, Ohio (WXIX) – Fresh from being named former President Donald Trump’s running mate at the Republican National Convention, J.D. Vance went shopping Friday at Jungle Jim’s International Market.
The store’s director of development, Phill Adams, announced it in a Facebook post.
Vance perused the aisles with his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance – the daughter of Indian immigrants – their children and some U.S. Secret Service agents. They were at the store’s Fairfield location, Adams tells FOX19 NOW.
“He was so kind to mention how our store was a part of his life. I thought it may be something he says everywhere but they clearly didn’t need someone to guide them to the English section and foods from India….” Adams wrote in the post.
“We’ve had a large number of politicians from all parties visit or use our event center over the years. Fun to see the frenzy they bring to the store when they visit. Everyone was able to see him shopping like everyone else. Doubt he’ll have much time to do that in the next 4 months.”
Jungle Jim’s on State Route 4 (Dixie Highway) in Butler County had a humble start six decades ago as a fresh produce stand on the street corner of Hamilton.
Now it’s undergoing an expansion and there also is a second store that is bigger in Eastgate off Interstate 275.
“With two locations, more than 500,000 square feet combined, hundreds of thousands of products, and over 70 countries represented, Jungle Jim’s International Market is locally grown, but internationally known,” its website says.
“We’re a destination for foodies, tourists, and weekly shoppers alike; from just around the corner to across the pond and beyond. Everyone who walks through our doors can shop without borders, and they share that experience with so many others.”
