Vilnius City Municipality has granted a construction permit for the construction of a transport infrastructure improvement project at Eigulių street, next to the Akropolis Vingis complex.
This project, to be constructed in Vilkpėdė, a district of Vilnius, will be implemented by Akropolis Vingis.
The approved project encompasses the reconstruction of Eigulių street between Tūkstantmečio street, Geležinio Vilko street, and the Savanorių avenue roundabout. It also includes a new roundabout and an extra lane from the Neris river towards Akropolis Vingis, as well as upgraded street lighting.
Additional infrastructure improvements will cater to nonmotorised traffic, with the introduction of a cycling path, sidewalks, and pedestrian crossings along Eigulių street. The design ensures pedestrian paths are flanked by greenery, enhancing safety and aesthetics.
In line with Vilnius city’s cycling plan, a new cycling path will be established on the southern side of Eigulių street from Geležinio Vilko street to Elektrinės street.
The project also includes significant environmental enhancements, with plans to plant 120 new trees, establish approximately 2,300m² of green plantations, 300m² of sustainably mown meadows, and create 389m² of watering hole areas to foster biodiversity.

A further phase of the project, still pending construction approval, will transform the intersection of Gerosios Vilties and Geležinio Vilko streets into a two-level continuous traffic intersection.
Current progress includes the nearing completion of Eigulių street section laying, which will facilitate access to the reVINGIS residential quarter by Galio Group, located adjacent to Akropolis Vingis.
Akropolis Vingis is responsible for all public infrastructure improvements, with legislation stipulating that the multifunctional complex’s operational permit will be issued only upon full completion of these projects.
The construction permit for Akropolis Vingis paves the way for a complex featuring a blend of shopping, service, and recreational spaces, a large concert hall, food hall, conference centre, cinema, offices, and residential apartments, complete with around 4,500 parking spaces.
Akropolis Group CEO and board chair Nerijus Maknevičius said: “This traffic infrastructure improvement project is integrally related to the quarter Akropolis Vingis under development.
