Villarreal are set to lose first-choice goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, having agreed a deal with Chelsea to sell the 22-year-old for a fee in the region of €25m. A replacement will now be sought by the Yellow Submarine, and one of their leading targets is currently plying his trade in La Liga.
It’s Alvaro Valles, whose future at Las Palmas is certain: he will be leaving – either now for a fee, or next summer as a free agent. The 27-year-old has rejected a new contract in Gran Canaria, which means that an immediate exit is wanted by club bosses, although it’s far from certain that it will happen.
According to ED, Valles is a leading candidate to replace Jorgensen. Las Palmas would welcome Villarreal’s interest, although they will find it difficult to convince the ‘keeper to join Marcelino Garcia Toral’s squad – he’s already turned down a move to Marseille because he has his heart set on a return to Real Betis.
For now, Betis are refusing to meet Las Palmas’ asking price, which allows Villarreal the opportunity to stake their claim. Still, it will surely be very difficult to tempt him to the Ceramica.
