Vikings at Rams: Predictions, picks, odds for NFL wild card game

Must read

The final game of wild-card weekend will take place in Glendale, Arizona, with the Rams facing the Minnesota Vikings in something of a rematch of a “Thursday Night Football” contest in Los Angeles last October. However this game was moved from SoFi Stadium to the home of the Cardinals on Thursday night due to the ongoing wildfires in the greater Los Angeles area.

Minnesota will have to play this weekend after it was soundly defeated by the Detroit Lions in the regular season finale. While it wasn’t the outcome it hoped for, Minnesota still remains one of the best teams in the playoffs with 14 wins on the season.

However, one of the three losses the Vikings suffered this season came from the Rams. It was a big win for Los Angeles that helped them turn the season around and become NFC West champions. The Rams certainly have their hands full, but can they pull off the upset again?

NFL wild card odds, predictions and picks

Texans vs. Chargers | Ravens vs. Steelers | Bills vs. Broncos | Eagles vs. Packers | Buccaneers vs. Commanders | Rams vs. Vikings

Lorenzo Reyes: Vikings 27, Rams 20

I think this comes down to Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ ability to generate and disguise pressure against a Rams O-line that sometimes can’t hold its protection. Plus, if there’s a coach who can figure out how to neutralize Sean McVay’s schemes, it’s Kevin O’Connell, who served as the Rams offensive coordinator for two seasons under McVay.

Tyler Dragon: Vikings 28, Rams 25

The Rams stunned Minnesota in Week 8. Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp combined for 12 catches 157 receiving yards and one touchdown. This time around, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson have big-time performances as the Vikings’ offense gets back on track. Jefferson produced a game-high 115 receiving yards the last time these two teams met.

Jordan Mendoza: Vikings 26, Rams 23

Can Los Angeles beat Minnesota again? The Vikings didn’t have an answer for Puka Nacua in the first meeting and the top priority will be taking away Matthew Stafford’s No. 1 option. Minnesota limits Los Angeles to get the road win.
