Creative Studio Unravel’s flagship store brings outside in
Creative Studio Unravel introduces a verdant green flagship store for the Korean clothing brand Mardi Mercredi in Tokyo, Japan. The project incorporates the external scenery, inviting visitors with a panoramic view. To blend the interior and exterior, colors that dissolve these boundaries are used for the floors, walls, and ceilings. A centrally placed functional object serves as a reflective element, further blurring the distinction between inside and outside. The store’s design derives meaning from the relationship between the store and its surroundings, aiming to surpass the dichotomy of nature and artificiality.

Mardi Mercredi Daikanyama in Japan prioritizes accessibility
Located along the path to Daikanyama Station, the project by Creative Studio Unravel involved site selection, design, contractor hiring, and construction. The store, completed in nine months, spans two floors, each requiring separate entrances connected by an external staircase. This project addresses accessibility from various perspectives. The first floor features a high, straight ceiling, offering flexible design and configuration options. The existing spatial sense is maximized, allowing furniture to be arranged in diverse layouts, enhancing both movement and functionality. In this way, the Korea-based studio creates a cohesive space that balances permanence and fluidity. The second floor, accessible via the external staircase, offers a stunning view of green trees through its windows, a feature highlighted during the initial site survey.
