PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) – Snow isn’t the only thing in the air today…so is love for many as they celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Beaulieu “Valentine’s day tends to be a lot of last-minute shoppers regardless. Today’s going to be tricky. Yesterday made it very tricky”
Love is in the air but so is snow. The snowstorm right before Valentine’s Day has challenged last-minute shoppers.
Cathy Beaulieu, Wilder’s Jewelry Owner: “It’s pretty hard right now to get around downtown. There’s a lot of snow”
Delivery drivers are experiencing delays according to Amy McLellan, owner of Amy’s Flowers.
McLellan: “We’ve got five delivery truck drivers out right now, so we are just going to take our time. Slow and easy will win the race.”
Certain addresses are being double-checked before flowers and goods get dropped off.
McLellan: “Because of the snowstorm we experienced we’re rerouting a lot of deliveries so any schools or businesses that were canceled now we have two phone lines going calling people to find alternative addresses.”
But store owners say they are certain they can get to everyone today despite the challenges left by the storm.
McLellan: “Everybody will get their flowers; it just might take a little bit longer today.”
Beaulieu: “There’s a lot of selection. there’s a lot of choice. We wrap and we’ll have you out the door in 10 to 20 minutes. We’re ready for you.”
Because snowfall is no excuse for skipping Valentine’s Day.
