FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The City of Fort Wayne shared Thursday morning that it has been awarded $3.8 million from the US Department of Transportation USDOT) 2024 Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) initiative.

According to city officials, the RAISE grant will serve to plan roadway enhancements on Fort Wayne’s southeast side. Leaders say the plan will address safety issues by reconfiguring roadways and implementing speed reduction measures, noting that they plan to implement pedestrian and biking designs as well.

The corridors affected by these coming changes will include S. Anthony Boulevard, Paulding Road, Fairfield Avenue, and E. Tillman Road, the city says.

A release by the city notes that this planning portion of the grant will cover all engineering costs. Once engineering is complete and construction costs are known, leaders say the Public Works Division of the city will apply for additional funds through the RAISE initiative.
