US$5.3 billion for Philippines’ transport infrastructure works

Must read

Massive transport infrastructure works worth a total of US$5.3 billion are now being planned for the Philippines.

The Calabarzon region in the Philippines will benefit from US$3.6 billion of works to roads and bridges. The budget has been allocated by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) IV-A. The work will help boost economic development in the region.

Meanwhile, San Miguel Corp (SMC) plans to carry on with the $1.7 billion Pasig River Expressway (PAREX) project. Work on the 19km route had stalled. The project will improve transport connections between Metro Manila, such as Bonifacio Global City, Ortigas Center, and the Makati Business District. Once the route is in operation, it will help reduce congestion in and around Manila, a city known for its chronic traffic problems.
