U.S. News and World Report has ranked Guam Memorial Hospital Authority as high-performing in five adult procedures and conditions. The achievement was announced by the hospital in a press release last week.
U.S. News and World Report ranks the nation’s hospitals by evaluating data from nearly 5,000 hospitals.
“To be nationally ranked in a specialty, a hospital must excel in caring for the sickest, most medically complex patients,” U.S. News said.
“The five areas where GMHA scored five out of five to earn the designation of high-performing hospital were in its cardiology, diabetes and pulmonary departments, where the hospital scored five out of five for the treatment of specific medical conditions. GMHA received high marks for the treatment of heart attacks, heart failure, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and pneumonia,” the release from GMHA said.
GMHA Administrator Lillian Perez-Posadas commended her staff for the well-deserved recognition.
“This is (a) fantastic and noteworthy accomplishment for GMHA, our employees, medical staff and our island. This national and worldly recognition is truly an extraordinary pat on the back for our deserving and dedicated employees,” Perez-Posadas said.
This is not the first time GMHA has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report.
“In 2022, GMHA’s Skilled Nursing Facility was awarded with the U.S. News and World Report’s 2022-2023 Best Nursing Homes for Short-Term Rehabilitation Care. GMH and the SNF’s recognition by such a well-respected organization like the U.S. News and World Report reassures the public that their hospital is hitting its benchmarks in providing our people with excellent care,” the hospital said in its release.
According to U.S. News and World Report, the quality rankings and ratings help patients decide where to receive care.
