The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), operating under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has issued a warning to Google Chrome users on Windows and Mac devices. CERT-In highlighted two critical vulnerabilities in Google Chrome, which could potentially be exploited by hackers.
The warning applies to users of desktops and laptops running on Windows or macOS, while smartphone users are reportedly at lesser risk, according to CERT-In.
Explaining the impact of these vulnerabilities, CERT-In stated that affected devices could become compromised, allowing hackers to gain access to sensitive information stored on them.
To mitigate these risks, CERT-In has strongly recommended that Windows and Mac users immediately update their Google Chrome browsers to the latest version. The agency emphasized the importance of applying security patches as soon as they become available.
Specifically, CERT-In advised users to upgrade their browsers if they are running versions earlier than 132.0.6834.83/8r or 132.0.6834.110/111.
Additionally, Linux users have been advised to update their browsers if they are using a version earlier than 132.0.6834.110. Upgrading to the latest version will help protect their devices from potential exploitation, CERT-In noted.
