UNCW ranked among the top NC colleges by U.S. News & World Report

The University of North Carolina Wilmington is ranked among the top for best colleges, according to the U.S. News & World Report.

The university, according to the 2025 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best College Rankings,” has improved its position for Top Public Schools. Bumping up two places from last year, the school is now tied at No. 107. Overall, UNCW is now tied at No. 196, climbing five spots from last year.

UNCW also ranks among the top five of UNC System schools that area featured on the national list.

The programs that have seen recognition are the university’s nursing program, which is now tied at No. 96, and has climbed 58 spots from last year for Best Undergraduate Nursing Program.

The Cameron School of Business is also ranked among the best for Best Undergraduate Business Program, coming in at No. 222. The psychology program bumped up 35 spots from last year, ranking with a tie at No. 229.

“UNCW continues to earn recognition at the national level for the high quality of our programs and services for students. Our faculty and staff focus on providing meaningful learning experiences, such as undergraduate research, internships and leadership opportunities, within a welcoming campus community,” said Chancellor Aswani K. Volety, according to a press release from the schoool.

He continued, “UNCW emphasizes advising, mentoring, career readiness, health and wellness services and other programs that support student success.”

UNCW also improved six spots from last year for Best Value School and is ranked No. 204, according to the release, reflecting its dedication to providing quality education at an affordable cost.

For the Best for Vets category, the university tied at No. 140, moving up a spot from last year.
