U.S. Chamber of Commerce taps West Michigan business leader for advisory role

HOLLAND, MI — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce named a West Michigan business leader to serve on its advisory committee alongside leaders from California and Texas.

Jodi Owczarski, president and CEO of the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce, was one of nine new appointees to the Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100, the U.S. Chamber announced Tuesday, Oct. 1.

In this role, Owczarski will help advise the U.S. Chamber’s board of directors, enhance lobbying and coalition work, recommend programming and strengthen business and chamber outreach.

Owczarski in a statement to MLive called the appointment a “remarkable opportunity to positively impact our members and the West Michigan business community on a national level.”

“Being invited to join this prestigious group was something I aspired to achieve in my career,” she said. “I am truly humbled and honored to represent our community in this way.

Members of the CCC100 are appointed to serve on the committee through the end of their chamber careers.

The other eight appointees are:

  • Jeffrey Ball — president and CEO, Orange County Business Council, Irvine, California
  • Patrick Ellis — president and CEO, Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber of Commerce, Murrieta, California
  • Wendy Gramza — president and CEO, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, Toledo, Ohio
  • Scott Martin — president and CEO, Norman Chamber of Commerce, Norman, Oklahoma
  • Heath Mello — president and CEO, Greater Omaha Chamber, Omaha, Nebraska
  • Lou Sandoval –president and CEO, Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Springfield, Illinois
  • Gina Spagnola — president and CEO, Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce, Galveston, Texas
  • Tiffany Tauscheck — president and CEO, Greater Des Moines Partnership, Des Moines, Iowa

“The CCC100 has a longstanding reputation as one of the most prestigious appointments in the chamber community,” Sara Armstrong, vice president and managing director of federation relations and coalition partnerships at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement.

“These appointments reflect our continued dedication to naming diverse, high-profile leaders to serve on this important committee.”
