Two Red Lobster locations in the Kansas City area have closed.
Restaurants in Olathe at 14904 W. 119th St. and in Kansas City, Kansas, at 10700 Parallel Parkway, had signs on their doors Tuesday morning announcing their closure.
“This location is closed. We look forward to serving you at another Red Lobster location in the future,” the signs read.
Red Lobster’s other Kansas City area locations were still open as of Tuesday morning, at 4328 S. Noland Road in Independence, 9475 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park, 450 N.W. Barry Road in the Northland and 670 N.W. Blue Parkway in Lee’s Summit.
They may be best known for such offerings as coconut shrimp, cheddar biscuits and, of course lobster.
The company has closed 87 restaurants across 27 states, according to USA Today. Some are selling kitchen equipment on an online liquidation website, the New York Times reported. The company’s decision last year to offer more all-you-can-eat shrimp promotions helped lead to a quarterly operating loss of $11 million, the Times said.
Red Lobster did not immediately respond to The Star’s request for comment Tuesday.
