Two San Francisco men were arrested on suspicion of stealing over $1,000 worth of clothing from a San Mateo department store Thursday, police said.
Officers got a call at 6:28 p.m. about an alleged theft at the Macy’s store in the Hillsdale Shopping Center at the corner of Hillsdale Boulevard and El Camino Real, police said.
Loss prevention agents employed by Macy’s stopped the two suspects, respectively 20 and 23 years of age, as the suspects were leaving with the clothing, according to police. One the suspects allegedly punched a loss prevention agent and tried to run away, police said.
According to police, no one was injured.
All the stolen items were recovered and returned to Macy’s, police said.
The suspects were arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery, organized retail theft and conspiracy to commit a crime and booked into San Mateo County Jail, police said.
