That’s now four injuries in attack for Bournemouth, who have lost Evanilson and Enes Unal to injury. They have also been without Luis Sinisterra since October and Marcus Tavernier since early December.

With their wing depth compromised, the last thing Andoni Iraola needed was a crisis at centre-forward. A transfer is necessary but in the meantime, how do Bournemouth cope?

Within the squad, Antoine Semenyo projects to be the best choice. He started their 2024-25 Premier League opener at Nottingham Forest in the centre-forward position, scoring an 86th-minute equaliser. He played there twice last season too and will be familiar with what Iraola needs from that position.

Before that, Semenyo started 39 Championship matches for Bristol City between 2019 and 2023 as their focal point in attack, scoring nine goals.

But as the graph above shows, Bournemouth have depended on him for his creativity and involvement in build-up play from out wide.

Another alternative is Justin Kluivert, who played centrally for Valencia towards the end of the 2022-23 La Liga season, scoring in a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo.

Kluivert also made a handful of appearances in that position for the Netherlands’ U16s and U21s.

The tall and physical Phillip Billing or pacy Dango Ouattara, who featured twice for previous FC Lorient as a centre-forward in Ligue 1, could also be short-term options.
