Tour of turbines
The Counseling Department of Pine Valley High School took the eighth-grade class on a field trip to the Ball Hill Windfarm last month. Ball Hill Windfarm, a 100-megawatt renewable energy project consisting of 25 turbines, is located in Hanover and Villenova. Students got an overview of the process for developing a wind farm and the types of jobs and careers involved. They learned about wind power as well as how windmills are monitored and maintained. Ball Hill Wind is a subsidiary of Northland Power Inc.
