Fredonia senior pitcher and St. Bonaventure University commit Jordan Lucas turned in her best season from the circle and was named the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West Pitcher of the Year by the league’s coaches.
Fredonia senior pitcher and St. Bonaventure University commit Jordan Lucas turned in her best season from the circle and was named the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West Pitcher of the Year by the league’s coaches.
Lucas gave up just nine hits in her 57 innings pitched, walked 12 batters, hit another three, allowed two runs — just one earned — while striking out an astounding 120 batters with a 0.14 earned run average as Fredonia captured the league title with a perfect 10-0 record.
Along with her pitching, Lucas hit .353 with four doubles, a home run, seven walks and eight runs scored in the league.
The league’s Player of the Year honors went to Olean sophomore catcher Anna Bates, who hit .546 with six doubles, four triples, a home run and 21 RBIs for the Huskies.
Finishing with a perfect league record the Hillbillies earned three First-Team selections in Jaelyn Davis, Danielle Palisin and Naomi Muck. In league action, Davis hit .355 with two triples, two homers, six walks and nine runs scored; Palisin hit .417 with a double, six walks, two stolen bases and 14 runs scored; and Muck hit .400 with a double, three walks and 10 runs scored. Palisin also pitched 14 innings in which she gave up no runs, three hits and struck out 28.
Naomi Muck
Fredonia’s Callie Draggett and Rihanna Benner made Second Team, while Jenna Fryberger was an honorable-mention selection.
Falconer finished second in the league and the trio of Hannah Melquist, Emily Rhinehart and Katrina Schrantz made the First Team.
Melquist hit .500 with a .636 on-base percentage and eight RBIs’ Rhinehart hit .314 with a .545 on-base percentage and 14 RBIs; and Schrantz hit .484 with a .500 on-base percentage and nine RBIs.
Emily Zaranek, Mylie Zaranek and Angelina Fiasco represented the Golden Falcons on the Second Team, while Nylah Sharpe earned an honorable-mention nod.
Helping Bates and the Huskies place third in the league were Emma Edwards and Alaina Hirliman, who received First-Team selections. Hirliman hit .500 with four doubles, three triples and 17 RBIs; and Edwards hit .418 with three doubles and then pitched Olean to an 8-4 league record with 71 strikeouts and a 2.14 ERA.
Danielle Palisin
Riley Sudbrook and Ava Finch earned Second Team for the Huskies, while Amy Campbell and Allison Anastasia were honorable mentions.
Allegany-Limestone’s Kaelyn Arnold was the Coach of the Year as her player’s Kailey Truman and Taylor Foster were named to the First Team. Foster hit .380 with seven doubles, four triples, two home runs, 21 RBIs and 16 runs scored; Truman posted a 2.76 ERA and struck out 153 batters over 127 innings this year, and hit .290 with five doubles, a triple and 12 RBIs.
The Gators added Summer Rhow and Abby Peck to the Second Team, as Peyton Truman was an honorable mention.
Southwestern junior Siri DuBois made First Team after hitting .395 with two doubles, two triples, three home runs, eight RBIs, 12 runs scored and stole four bases. Alexis Beckerink and Arianna Silakowski made Second Team for the Trojans with Peyton Lillie and Madelyn Burnett receiving honorable mentions.
Dunkirk’s Kassidy Donisi and Jamestown’s Alyson Canfield rounded out the First Team. Dunkirk added Brooke Szymczak to the Second Team, and both Aaliyah Morales and Emma Ahlstrom were honorable mention. Jamestown’s Alyvia Remington and Kendall Hughes were Second-Team selections and Chloe Degnan and Madison Potter received honorable mentions.
