It’s Black Friday, but not everyone wants to face the crowds at big-box stores. That’s why the U.S. Chamber of Commerce created Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to encouraging shoppers to support local businesses during the holiday season.
On Saturday, shoppers are urged to spend as much of their Christmas shopping budget as possible at small businesses. Here on the Eastern Shore, you’ll find dozens of locally owned shops, from local artists’ galleries to charming old-fashioned variety stores, all eager to help you find the perfect gift. Shopping locally not only supports our neighbors and boosts the economy, but it also generates important tax revenue for the community. Small businesses are also a vital source of local jobs.
Cape Charles merchants are kicking off their Festive Fridays series tonight, and there’s no better time to shop locally. From Chincoteague and Pocomoke City to Kiptopeake, we encourage you to support locally owned businesses this holiday season.
