CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A triple shooting left a 17-year-old and two 18-year-olds injured in a busy Ballantyne shopping center.

According to police, the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Sunday at the Blakeney Town Center near the Palmetto Moon store.

The police report says a 17-year-old and two 18-year-olds suffered from gunshot wounds, with their injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Shoppers described the Blakeney Town Center as a quiet and safe place, however, Sunday’s incident caused some concern.

“I am out here by myself as a woman with four young kids, that’s scary because it could happen to anybody. I know it happened late at night, but I do come out here sometimes late at night by myself so, it definitely raises awareness,” said Amber Chapman.

”Sometimes at nine o’clock, we’re here. ‘We forgot something let’s go to Target.’ It’s scary because it’s close to home,” said Christina Valdes.

While out at the shopping center on Tuesday, a WBTV crew reported seeing police and security patrolling the shopping center parking lot.

So far, no arrests have been made in the shooting.
