When it comes to ranking the best hotels and resorts in the world, the Pacific Northwest seems to be at an unfair advantage. How are we supposed to contend with the idyllic beaches of Hawaii, the storied streets of Paris or the jaw-dropping landscapes of Saint Lucia?
Still, at least one Oregon destination made it into the “best of 2025” rankings by U.S. News & World Report, the best showing by a Pacific Northwest business in this year’s hotel and resort lists.
Coming in at No. 62 on the Best Hotels in the USA ranking is The Allison Inn & Spa in Newberg. According to U.S. News & World Report, the hotel “offers the perfect retreat from urban life,” with “acres of lush gardens and vineyards ready to be explored.” The report also praised The Allison’s restaurant, spa and rooms.
The ranking is an improvement over 2024, when The Allison ranked 88, perhaps due to the fact that it was just “refreshed” in January.
The Jory, the hotel restaurant, has earned accolades itself, and last year featured a Celebration of First Foods Dinner from Chef Jack Strong, a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians who has built a career around integrating Native American ingredients into French-focused fine dining.
U.S. News & World Report has separately released a list of the best hotels in Oregon, which The Allison has topped, just as it did last year. Rounding out the top five are The Nines and Sentinel Hotel, both in downtown Portland, Sunriver Resort in central Oregon, and Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach.
