Three Kansas colleges ranked in the top 100 universities in the Midwest this year.

U.S. News & World Report ranked universities in multiple categories including nationally and based on region. Kansas State University and the University of Kansas made the top 100 for the national ranking. For the Midwest, three universities ranked in the top 100.

Emporia State University

Emporia State ranked 83rd in the Midwest ranking, making it the top Kansas university on the list. Located in Emporia, ESU has an acceptance rate of 96%. The school has a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1 and 67% of the classes are 20 people or smaller. Only 35% of students graduate in four years.

University of Saint Mary

The University of Saint Mary is a private school and is ranked 95th in the Midwest. Located in Leavenworth, the university has an acceptance rate of 82%. The student-to-faculty ratio is 12:1 and 68% of classes have 20 or fewer students. Only 30% of students graduate in four years.

Pittsburg State University

Pittsburg State ranked 96th in the Midwest making it the third highest ranked school in Kansas for this category. Located in Pittsburg, the college has an acceptance rate of 96%. Its student-to-faculty ratio is 15:1 and 31% of students graduate in four years.

Washburn University

Washburn University is ranked 103rd in the Midwest and fourth in the state. The university has an acceptance rate of 98% and 27% of students graduate in four years. The student-to-faculty ratio is 13:1 and 59% of classes have 20 or fewer students.

Fort Hays

Fort Hays is the next highest-ranked Kansas university with a Midwest ranking of 109th. The campus is located in Hays and has an acceptance rate of 90%. The university’s student-to-faculty ratio is 15:1 and only 29% of students graduate in four years.

Other universities

MidAmercian Mazarene University ranked 112th in the Midwest and is located in Olathe. Newman University and Friends University are tied for 124th and are located in Wichita. No other schools were listed.
