January was a steady month for business updates and while we saw no closures and only a few openings, there were a handful of businesses developments.
We’ve put together a list of businesses that made the news in the last month.
2 new businesses opened in Appleton
Two small businesses set up shop in January.
Bride to Brides, 639 N. Westhill Blvd. in Appleton, opened on Jan. 6. The consignment store moved to Appleton from Ashwaubenon, providing affordable options for wedding shopping and offering a place for people to sell their former wedding goods.
Nanglo Momos & Curry, 1619 W. College Ave. in Appleton, had its grand opening on Jan. 15. The restaurant offers a combination of Indian and Nepali cuisine.

Speakeasy Ultra Lounge, 425 W. College Ave. in Appleton, closed in late December. Last month, The Buzz interviewed co-owner Theodore Seuss on the history of the business and what he loved most about running the lounge.
Grand Chute brunch restaurant changes ownership after a decade of business
SAP, 708 N. Casaloma Drive in Grand Chute, changed ownership on Jan. 1. The restaurant was owned by sisters Nicole and Kristen DeFranza, who also own an Italian bistro three doors down called Carmella’s.
Nicole said they plan to focus solely on Carmella’s, and that SAP’s new owners, Moypa and Kara Kahn, were well prepared to take over the business.
Local oddities shop moving to new location in Appleton
Forty Three Skulls is relocating to 133 E. Wisconsin Ave. in Appleton, which will be the business’s first stand-alone-location. The shop, which will open by March, features antique items, art pieces and a wide mix of oddities.
4 new businesses are preparing to open in the Fox Valley
Three businesses currently under construction and one small business were covered by The Buzz last month, announcing future openings.
Edge VR Arcade, 926 N. Westhill Blvd. in Appleton, is opening Friday after working on final preparations last month. The business will offer a free-roam arena for VR laser tag, booths for VR games and escape rooms and a PS5 section for additional gaming.
Culver’s is currently under construction in Combined Locks. The future location will be located on the southwestern corner of Martineau Road and Debruin Road.
Odyssey Climbing + Fitness, 4150 N. Galaxy Drive in Grand Chute, will open between May and June. Construction along Richmond Street, just north of Meijer and Interstate 41 in Grand Chute, started in early January. The gym will feature an indoor climbing area with ropes and bouldering climbing.
O’Reilly’s Auto Parts is opening in the western section of the former Shopko building at 1000 W. Northland Ave. in Appleton, which had been vacant since Shopko’s bankruptcy in 2019. Renovations for the space began last fall, but no opening date has been set.
A new restaurant will replace the former Salt restaurant in Harrison
IVR Bar, N9650 Friendship Drive in Harrison, plans to open by summer. The restaurant will feature a menu where each dish has a Mexican-Indian twist.
The fine dining steakhouse went out of business last June, the building has been empty since its closure.
