MONROE, La. (KNOE) – People are beginning to scramble for gifts as Christmas draws closer and local businesses are benefitting.
Two local shop owners said they see a spike in sales around Christmas every year.
According to the Association for Entrepreneurship, e-commerce, or shopping online, has made owning shops more difficult.
Kylie Austin, the owner of Cara’s Boutique, says she feels blessed to have such strong support from the area.
She says, “Shopping locally is so important and honestly, we are just so thankful for the Community that God has blessed us. We have very loyal customers. I know this time of the year especially right now. People love to get on an online shop, but we have been so blessed with the loyal customers that we have that come into our brick and mortar store And keep their tax dollars local. “
Norma Rice, owner of Antiques and Treasures Galore, says the holidays bring more people into her shop.
She says, “Get a lot of repeat customers in here and it’s so good to hear them walk in and remember us, you know. And then I remember a face. You know you’re not going to get that through a big CEO Corporation. You know you’re only going to get that with your, with your local businesses and you know and like I said, we couldn’t do it without our people. So we appreciate everything that they do for us.”
