The holiday shopping season continues on small business Saturday

Small businesses across the capital region kicking off their holiday season on this small business Saturday. The Obama administration made the holiday official in 2011, with businesses trying to capitalize ever since.

CBS6 checked in with those businesses on Saturday. Small business across the capital region opened their doors for the yearly tradition.

People were walking around downtown Troy today eating at restaurants and shopping at local stores.

Well, it’s been slow to start we opened up a preview party last night and it’s been a little slow to go today but it seems to be picking up the feeling I get is that people are a little bit slower to come out to shop this year, said Ami Lahoff Star & Splendor Owner

CBS6 asked why owners think it might be a little slow this year.

I think some people are a little bit confused or maybe a little bit I’m cautious about what the impacts of the election are going to be on the community. Gov. Kathy Hochul made her rounds on Spring Street in Troy for small business Saturday and this day hits close to home.
