NFL Divisional Round picks: Why you should consider Texans, Lions, and Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ quest for NFL history begins on Saturday with the divisional round matchup against the Houston Texans.
With the Chiefs holding a top seed, the AFC runs through Kansas City as it attempts to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Home-field advantage will be enormous for a team that has won seven-straight playoff games.
Houston should feel good about its chances in this matchup after its defense came up big in the wild card win over the Los Angeles Chargers. With two consecutive seasons of wild card wins, the Texans are hoping to achieve more than reaching the divisional round.

Kansas City is a different beast in the playoffs, with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid holding such a competitive advantage over other teams. Yet, this is a very good Texans team when it protects the ball. C.J. Stroud showed he could make plays against a stellar defense, and Houston’s defense is solid under coach DeMeco Ryans. I think this one stays close, even in Arrowhead.

The Chiefs defeated the Texans in Week 16. Kansas City is well-rested, and its offense is improved with DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Hollywood Brown leading the way at wide receiver. The Texans are coming off a big win, but you can’t bet against Patrick Mahomes.

Which version of the Chiefs will show up? Less than a month ago Kansas City handled Houston, and the Texans will be sure to make changes to prevent that from happening again. However, the Kansas City home crowd is the difference in a close one.
