Tester Secures $25 Million for Key Infrastructure in Belgrade – Senator Jon Tester

Funding comes from the Senator’s bipartisan infrastructure law

As a direct result of his bipartisan infrastructure law, U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced he has secured $25,000,000 in Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grant funding for the Belgrade Urban Project, which will make critical safety improvements to key intersections in Belgrade.

Tester worked with five Republicans and four Democrats to negotiate the IIJA, which will fund this project, and was the only member of Montana’s Congressional delegation to vote for the bill.

“Belgrade is one of the fastest growing communities in Montana, and that growth puts real pressure on local infrastructure,” said Tester. “That’s why I was happy to lock arms with the local community to work to secure this funding through my bipartisan infrastructure law, and I am proud to see Belgrade awarded the maximum grant amount to get this project done. It’s great news for Belgrade’s small businesses and working families.”

The project will include the construction of a grade-separated crossing where Jackrabbit Lane intersects Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s (BNSF) railway, and the reconstruction of Jackrabbit Lane to five lanes from its intersection with Main Street (Frontage Road) and Madison Avenue. Additionally, the project will include signal upgrades and the inclusion of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, with a focus on improved safety for all users.

Tester secured significant wins for Montana in the IIJA, including $2.82 billion for Montana’s roads, highways and bridges; $2.5 billion to complete all authorized Indian water rights settlements; $1 billion to complete all authorized rural water projects through the Bureau of Reclamation; $65 billion to deploy broadband to areas across the country that lack internet access and additionally make online connectivity affordable; and $3.37 billion to reduce wildfire risk nationwide, among others. Tester also worked to ensure that all iron, steel, and construction materials used for these projects must be made in America.
