A total of 206 applications were submitted this year. The following ten young artists have received scholarships for their outstanding work: Francesca Bertin, Maxime Chabal, Wassili Franko, Katharina Kohl, Lila-Zoé Krauß, Nina Kuttler, Ruxin Liu, Katja Pilipenko, Sohorab Rabbey and Kristina Savutsina. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media, remarked: “The grants have boosted cultural diversity in Hamburg for many years. The scholarships enable artists to concentrate on developing their work for twelve months, relieved of economic constraints, and perhaps try out something new or expand their networks.” More than 400 artists have benefited from the the scheme, in place since 1981, hitherto.
