Synaptics (SYNA) Partners with Google to Enhance IoT Edge AI Sol

Synaptics (SYNA, Financial) has announced a collaboration with Google (GOOGL) to advance Edge AI for the Internet of Things (IoT). This partnership aims to define optimal multimodal processing solutions for context-aware computing. Following the news, Synaptics’ stock rose over 4% in pre-market trading.

The collaboration will integrate Google’s MLIR-compliant machine learning cores with Synaptics’ Astra hardware, along with open-source software and tools. This integration is expected to accelerate the development of AI IoT devices capable of processing various modalities such as vision, image, speech, and sound. The enhanced capabilities will support seamless interaction in applications across wearables, home appliances, entertainment, embedded hubs, surveillance, and various consumer, automotive, enterprise, and industrial systems.

Synaptics’ adoption of open-source software and proven AI hardware aligns with Google’s ML core requirements, facilitating the development of edge AI devices that meet demanding power, performance, cost, and space constraints.
