WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is ending its 10-year run on East Liberty Street in Ann Arbor while a new ice cream shop recently got its start in Ypsilanti.

Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea to close

The Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea location at 604 E. Liberty St. is set to close June 23 after spending about a decade in the space. In a statement, cafe owner and franchisee Shelia Qin Li said the reason is because her lease is expiring.

Amazon to start construction on ‘last mile’ facility near Ann Arbor

Online retail giant Amazon still has plans to build a new facility in Pittsfield Township after years of conversation.

Spokesperson Steve Kelly confirmed construction is slated to begin this summer on the facility at 4700 Carpenter Road. However, a time frame for when it will open has not yet been determined.

Ann Arbor will soon get a taste of authentic Mexican food as a local restaurant expands to its second location.

Owners of Miny’s Mexican Restaurant, now operating in Ypsilanti Township, aim to open in August at 1141 Broadway St. in Ann Arbor’s Broadway Retail Center.

Lucas and Jamille Chamon’s craving for authentic açaí bowls was so strong the couple decided to open a business in downtown Ann Arbor.

The husband-and-wife team started Samba Bowls at 113 W. Washington St. in the building that held longstanding Vogel’s Lock and Safe before it closed in March 2018.

Chelsea Burger’s building is for lease after sitting empty in downtown Chelsea for two years.

Chelsea Burger opened for to-go orders in December 2020 and for dine-in services in March 2021 after Raunaq Savur and Paul Fredenberg decided to bring the concept to 110 W. Middle St.
