WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is ending its 10-year run on East Liberty Street in Ann Arbor while a new ice cream shop recently got its start in Ypsilanti.

Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea to close
The Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea location at 604 E. Liberty St. is set to close June 23 after spending about a decade in the space. In a statement, cafe owner and franchisee Shelia Qin Li said the reason is because her lease is expiring.

Amazon to start construction on ‘last mile’ facility near Ann Arbor
Online retail giant Amazon still has plans to build a new facility in Pittsfield Township after years of conversation.
Spokesperson Steve Kelly confirmed construction is slated to begin this summer on the facility at 4700 Carpenter Road. However, a time frame for when it will open has not yet been determined.

Lucas and Jamille Chamon’s craving for authentic açaí bowls was so strong the couple decided to open a business in downtown Ann Arbor.
The husband-and-wife team started Samba Bowls at 113 W. Washington St. in the building that held longstanding Vogel’s Lock and Safe before it closed in March 2018.
