Suspect shot after reportedly trespassing at Lakewood shopping center

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KKTV) – A suspect was hospitalized after being shot by police while reportedly trespassing at a business in Lakewood overnight.

The Lakewood Police Department posted to social media just after 5:20 a.m. that it was investigating an officer-involved shooting on Alaska Drive and that “all officers are okay.”

11 News sister station CBS Denver reports that the suspect was allegedly caught trespassing at a business in Belmar Shopping District, an outdoor mall with more than 80 stores, restaurants and a movie theater. The Lakewood Police Department has not said what led up to officers firing their weapons or what the suspect’s condition is.

More information is expected later Monday or on Tuesday.
