Support cancer patients while holiday shopping at ‘It’s Fall Y’all’

Must read

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – “It’s Fall Y’all” returns for a sixth year, supporting the nonprofit Show Me Care Bags.

The event is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 9 at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau.

People can stop by to browse items from local businesses and crafters, shop for sales, and enter raffles.

There is no entry fee.

Jennifer Preston with Show Me Care Bags said various shopping events hosted throughout the year play a big role in bringing comfort to cancer patients.

“By coming out, supporting our vendors who’ve supported us by renting their table, and then purchasing raffle tickets is the best way to support us, honestly. It just helps us continue the mission,” said Preston.

Some of the items included in the comfort packages are lotion, lip balm, activity books, blankets, and inspirational reading material.

A note card with an encouraging message is also placed inside.

Preston said hundreds of patients have received care bags since the effort began. Organizers bring extra bags to fundraising events in case a shopper can benefit.

“You know you’ve made an impact on that person because you just see it in their eyes, you know that you’re bringing just a little bright spot to their day,” Preston said.

People can also support the group by bringing encouragement cards and donating money directly at a shopping event.
