MADISON — Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce — the combined state chamber of commerce and manufacturers’ association — recently presented District 20 Sen. Duey Stroebel, R-Cedarburg, with a Working for Wisconsin Award last month at SEEK Careers/Staffing in Grafton for his work during the most recent legislative session. According to a news release, the Working for Wisconsin Award recognizes legislators who supported specific pro-growth policies and earned a high rating on WMC’s biennial legislative scorecard. All Wisconsin legislators are considered for the award, but it is only earned by those who consistently vote to make Wisconsin a better place to do business.

Working for Wisconsin Award winners must receive at least a 70% rating on the WMC Legislative Scorecard. The Working for Wisconsin Award is based on individual voting records, regardless of a legislator’s partisan affiliation.

“Our state’s business climate and economic outlook are dependent on policymakers who choose to champion probusiness legislation,’ WMC President and CEO Kurt R. Bauer said. “In order to be the most competitive state to do business, legislators must actively work to improve our tax climate, cut burdensome regulations and foster entrepreneurship.”

The release also mentioned that legislators who earn the award each session do so because of their support of pro-growth policies and reforms aimed at improving the state’s business climate.

“Sen. Stroebel has shown a continuous commitment to growing our economy, attracting and retaining a talented workforce, and improving the overall health of our business environment,” WMC Executive Vice President of Government Relations Scott Manley said. “We look forward to our continued work with legislators like Sen. Stroebel who share our goal of making Wisconsin the best state to live, work and play.”
