North Decatur varsity volleyball got past South Ripley in five sets. The Chargers improve to 7-6 on the season.

It was South Decatur over Morristown in three sets, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21. Makayla Somers led the Cougars with 26 assists, two aces, six kills, three digs, and two blocks.

In middle school volleyball, Batesville split with Benjamin Rush. The Bulldog 7th grade team fell in three sets, 25-24, 17-25, 13-15, while the BMS 8th graders won their third consecutive match, outscoring Benjamin Rush in two sets, 25-17, 25-16.

On Monday Night Football, the Washington Commanders upset the Bengals 38-33 in Cincinnati. With the loss, the Bengals fall to 0-3.

In the other Monday night NFL game, the Buffalo Bills crushed the Jacksonville Jaguars 47-10.

The Reds announced yesterday that they have parted ways with infield and game planning coach Jeff Pickler. He joined the organization in 2019 shortly after David Bell was hired as manager. The Reds fired Bell Sunday night. President of Baseball Operations Nick Krall yesterday cited inconsistency, philosophical differences, players not playing to their potential and some young players not developing among the reasons for dismissing Bell, who had a 409-456 record in six seasons at the helm. The team is 76-81 and in fourth place in the National League Central Division heading into the final week of the season. Cincinnati begins a two-game series tonight in Cleveland under interim manager Freddie Benevides. Coverage begins at 6:10 on 103.9 WRBI.

Kelly Krauskopf will return to the Indiana Fever as President of Basketball and Business Operations after the season is over. Krauskopf led the Fever from 2000-2018 before leaving to become the Indiana Pacers assistant general manager. Under her watch, the Fever won the WNBA championship in 2012, and reached the finals in 2009 and 2015. She replaces Allison Barber, who announced her departure as president and COO earlier this month.
