Spirit Airlines will now remove passengers sporting ‘offensive’ clothing and tattoos

Travelers planning to fly with Spirit Airlines may want to do an outfit check before they head to the airport as the budget airline has updated its dress code to ban “offensive” clothing and tattoos. According to CNN, the company has made changes to its contract of carriage that allows the airline to deny passengers from boarding or to remove passengers from a plane over what it deems “offensive.”

The contract of carriage states that guests can be denied or removed if the guest “is barefoot or inadequately clothed (i.e., see-through clothing; not adequately covered; exposed breasts, buttocks, or other private parts) or whose clothing or article, including body art, is lewd, obscene, or offensive in nature.”

The contract goes on to say passengers can also be removed if they have “an offensive odor unless caused by a qualified disability.”

According to the terms of the carriage contract, passengers who are removed from a flight or denied boarding because of “offensive” clothing are not entitled to a refund, according to the terms of the carriage contract.

The policy change comes after two women claimed they were kicked off a Spirit flight in October for wearing crop tops.
