St. Petersburg College continues to excel in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges rankings, earning the No. 1 spot for online bachelor’s degree programs in the Tampa Bay area. The College also joined Florida’s list of public colleges and universities in the top 100 in the nation for best online bachelor’s programs.
U.S. News & World Report released the results Jan. 21, 2025, listing SPC first in the Tampa Bay region in two categories: Best Online Bachelor’s Program and Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans. This is the fifth year that SPC received top rankings among all participating institutions in the study. This year, the College ranked 78th in the nation for best online bachelor’s programs and among the top 50 for online bachelor’s programs for veterans among public institutions. SPC is also the highest ranked college in the Tampa Bay Area in the Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs category.
SPC’s Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Matthew Liao-Troth said the consistency in the College’s ranking is due to its dedicated faculty and staff. SPC also continues to deliver excellence in learning by offering degrees and training that are relevant and timely.
“Our faculty and staff are proud to support our students so well, especially online. We have been delivering online bachelor’s degree programs for more than 20 years so that residents of the Tampa Bay region can complete their degrees even while juggling work and family obligations,” said Liao-Troth. “We continuously invest in professional development for our faculty and staff and online support tools for our students to ensure they are successful with a better job and a better life.”
U.S. News & World Report consistently names Florida the No. 1 state in the country for higher education. Since the inception of the rankings in 2017, Florida has swept the rankings. The state continues to remain at the top of graduating students on time, providing students with the lowest cost for in-state tuition and fees, and offering higher education with little to no debt for students.
