Solar power plants coming to Mayes county

It’s the latest chapter in the story of MidAmerica Industrial Park, continued growth and the need for more power.

“I drive by it everyday and it’s amazing you look and like, wait a second, where’d that building come from,” said Chris Hardy, owner of Book Exchange and Bible Bookstore has heard about the coming development.

“I guess it’s not going to be too far right outside of town here,” he said.

“We anticipate physically breaking ground here at the very end of this quarter and the projects will be completed beginning late this year and into the first quarter, first half of next,” said Eran Mahrer, of LRE.

The power to be used by Google as they continue to grow. Construction of the solar fields, a boom for the construction sector.

“Each project draws about 300 construction jobs which is obviously wonderful, those are highly specialized construction jobs,” said Mahrer.

LRE also emphasizing their commitment to made in America products.

“Our solar panels are coming from Ohio and Alabama, maybe even from a newly established plant in Louisiana, our steel is coming from nearby facilities in Texas,” said Mahrer.

Meanwhile, back at the bookstore, Chris is busy preparing his own electrifying project, the annual Booklahoma extravaganza this Friday and Saturday.

“We sell you a big Braum’s bag for ten dollars and then you fill it up with the thousands and thousands of books next door. The event is on Friday and Saturday from 9 to 4.
