ORCHARD PARK — Silver Creek-Forestville Unified Sports members, Youth Advisory Committee members, and staff members volunteered at the Special Olympics Buffalo Bowl flag football fundraising event over the weekend at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.

Participating teams who raise enough money are able to compete on Highmark Field in games against others in their division. Silver Creek-Forestville volunteers at the event despite not participating in the contests.

This year, the students held a children’s carnival for all the children attending the event to watch family members play on the field. The carnival had more than 10 activities for the kids to participate in, each with a Polar Plunge theme to help promote Special Olympics New York’s other major fundraiser, held each December.

Fifteen students from Silver Creek and Forestville, as well as returning alumni members of YAC/Unified programs all worked to provide a fun and entertaining experience for those in attendance. The students working the carnival are already planning additional games and activities to make the event bigger and better for next year.
