The Sigourney School District received good news at their most recent meeting regarding elementary infrastructure upgrades. Rusty Wolfe with SitelogIQ reported to the board, their group began work in the summer of 2024 and they completed the bulk of the projects before the start of the school year, and officially wrapped up in January. Total cost was $6,460,000, which came in under the $6,506,000 raised by the infrastructure bond. Work included installation of new fire alarms, hot water heaters, HVAC system and lighting.
Wolfe says even though they encountered some issues with asbestos removal and access to the electrical system in places, they were still able to leave the district with a $68,000 surplus. Superintendent Kevin Hatfield suggested to the board they use the left over funds to resurface the gym floor this summer, typically a $50,000-$70,000 expense. The board approved the proposal.  Â
