Shooting at Raleigh shopping center draws heavy police response

A midday shooting at Raleigh’s busy North Hills shopping center put at least four area schools on lockdown and drew a massive police presence.


“This is not an active shooter. The roads around the area are closed for the investigation, and the public is advised to avoid the area,” the Raleigh Police Department said on social media at 11:15 a.m.

As of noon, the Raleigh Police Department has released limited information about what happened.

At least four Wake County schools in the area were put on lockdown Friday: Carol Magnet, Douglas Magnet, Brooks Magnet and Root Elementary. the lockdowns were lifted by 12:15 p.m.
